Growing up, my father taught me what he was taught from his father, and his father before him..a craftsmans trade..carpet installation. Carpet installation something that my family has been practicing since 1888.
After I graduated I worked as a carpenter for two years until we ran out of work. At that point, I decided to put into use, the extensive knowledge my father handed down to me and started full time into the floor covering industry. For several years I did commercial (glue-down) work for large school systems and institutions. We gradually worked our way into apartments. You know the type, small, inexpensive and cheap. What an experience! The apartment business grew so big we were installing projects in four states, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. At that time I had two small children that were growing up fast, while I was spending the majority of my time on the road. Finally, I had to choose between a life with my family, or a road to disaster. So I started back into local commercial business installation and selling various flooring including vinyl, wood, carpet, ceramic, and just about everything else. Starting with small projects and a few experienced installers, we started to expand with the reputation of good quality work.
Contracting from most of the local builders and general contractors, we grew to about 15 employees. We have seen about every kind of problem that you can find in our industry and we still learn new things every day. It's a fascinating experience. We gradually scaled back on the large installation crews, because of the cost of taxes, employee benefits, and the prevailing market conditions. We opened a retail store for customers in a great location and have since opened another showroom in a Design Center for upscale homes. Simply Unique! There has been substantial changes in our industry through the years, but quality service remains the same. We pride our selves on customer service! We will try to solve your problem with the knowledge our extensive experience offers.
